This design was made for a social justice project centered around the historical site, Seabreeze, an island of the coast of North Carolina, remembered for its distinct culture as a refuge for Black Americans in the Jim Crow South, as well as spot on the famous Chitlin’ Circuit. This island is part of a larger story of Black land loss throughout the South. The initiation was a collaboration between Land Rich, The University of Nebraska School of Architecture, and the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.
